Net Zero Group are B-Corp Certified!

Net Zero Group are delighted to announce that we're a vertified #BCorp, passing final verification with a score of 92.2 and joining a global community of businesses measuring our social and environmental impact. As a guide, the median score for the companies that completed the assessment is 50.9.

This certification confirms our commitment to good governance, community, our customers and, of course, the environment (both in our internal targets and the innovative services we offer our clients), and is the confirmation of what we've been working hard to achieve - to use our business as a force for good.

Net Zero Group is now part of a community of 5,575 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 950 companies and include well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole.

What is B Corp, and Why is it Important to Achieve B Corp Certificaiton?

The B Corp label is awarded by the NGO B Lab, which was founded in 2006 by three entrepreneurs (Bart Houlahan, Jay Coen Gilbert and Andrew Kassoy), with the aim of supporting the emergence of a new economic and societal model, more respectful of people and environment. The purpose of the B Corp label is to evaluate the social and environmental performance of a company, without limiting themselves to its product or service.

Any organisation wishing to obtain the label must submit to the BIA (“B Impact Assessment”), a self-assessment questionnaire that assesses the impact of their activities and business model on workers, on the broader community, on the environment, and on their customers. The B Corp label commits the structure to take into account their long-term impact on their stakeholders and on the environment, by integrating it into their own statutes.

The B Corp Process

The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. Recent attention on the environmental services industry makes Net Zero Group's B Corp certification a notable step and signals a shift towards greater accountability and transparency in the sector.

Net Zero Group and B Corp

The challenges faced during the completion of the B Corp Impact Assessment have allowed us to focus on and improve our internal standards, and we are committed to further improving in this regard in the future.

Joining the B Corp community was crucial for us at Net Zero Group. We are a company that fundamentally believes in practicing what we preach, by creating a positive and sustainable environment both in our own company and for our clients. We wanted to show hoe much we value our societal and environmental impact both on our community and on a wider scale, and we wanted to become part of the B Corp community of similarly committed organisations, devoted to playing their part in the development of a sustainable economic and social model.
