Companies May Have to Demonstrate Green Credentials

A UK Government report is recommending that businesses prove that their supply chain is green and sustainable. The Environment Secretary, George Eustice, has told campaigners at the Green Alliance that the Government is ‘studying closely’ the recommendations of a report by the Global Resource Initiative taskforce. Mr Eustice has echoed the Government’s talk of building on environmental as well as economic recovery in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, and points to the fact that the Amazon rainforest makes up 13.9 per cent of all of the UK’s overseas land footprint. “We are trying to improve due diligence in the supply chain, so that we can tackle illegal deforestation,” Eustice told the Green Alliance. When you lose these ancient forests that are the lungs of the planet, you've lost them forever. And if we lose much more, we will be in a critical decline as a planet and our attempt to tackle climate change will amount to nothing. “When we destroy nature, we undermine our very foundations. Every country faces a choice as they map out their recovery: store up problems by sticking with the status quo, or get back on our feet by building back better, and greener.” What better way to demonstrate your company’s green credentials by offsetting your carbon footprint with iOffset?
